Grieg Selection
from Peer Gynt Suites
Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47
Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, Op. 35

Tonight's concert features an exotic array of music, the choice of which is inspired by the Arabian Nights. We commence with a selection from Grieg's Peer Gynt suites, set in the Middle East and including the majestic Morning Mood and the sinister drama of In the Hall of the Mountain King. We will next journey to the icy beauty of Finland's snowfields for Sibelius' Violin Concerto, for which we welcome soloist Anna-Liisa Bezrodny. The concert will conclude with Rimsky-Korsakov's masterful symphonic suite Scheherazade, which is based on tales from the 1001 Arabian Nights and combines dazzlingly colourful orchestration with a sense of mystical adventure.

Tickets: £25, £15, £5
